Ault headlines IBCA Players of the Week; South Bend Riley boys,

Taylor boys, HSE girls cited as IBCA Teams of the Week

Konley Ault set a school record with 40 points in one game and averaged 29.5 points over two games, and the Bluffton senior headlines the honorees in this week’s IBCA Player of the Week program.

Bellmont sophomore Daniel Selking, Indianapolis Crispus Attucks senior DeZhon Hall, Christian Academy of Indiana junior Noah Vance, Ben Davis junior Shania Curry and Center Grove sophomore Haley Wagoner join Ault as Week 7 winners in the IBCA Player of the Week program for 2025-26.

Also, the South Bend Riley boys’ team, the Taylor boys’ team and the Hamilton Southeastern girls’ team each was cited as an IBCA/Ballogy Team of the Week for respective performances during the week of Dec. 15-20 in the recognition program coordinated by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.

Players of the Week are selected by IHSAA district – Selking and Ault for District 1, Hall and Curry for District 2, and Vance and Wagoner for District 3. Teams of the Week are cited at the discretion of the program coordinators, former Martinsville coach Kip Staggs for boys and former Brownsburg coach Debbie Smiley for girls. Players and teams are recognized based on all performances in a Monday through Saturday week.

Ault poured in a record 40 points while adding eight rebounds, five assists, four steals and one block as the Class 2A co-No. 14 Bluffton girls opened their week with a 79-51 victory over Southwood. The 5-8 guard followed with 19 points, two rebounds, two assists and five steals as the Tigers improved to 11-3 with a 59-48 decision over Adams Central.

For the two games, Ault connected on 24-of-39 field goals, 4-of-9 3-pointers and 7-of-9 free throws. That included a 17-of-25, 2-of-6 and 4-of-6 effort in her record-setting game. Her 40 points eclipsed the previous record that had been held by her mother, Abby Salscheider Ault, a 1998 Indiana All-Star who twice scored 38 points during her Bluffton career – once against Bellmont on Jan. 8, 1998, and again against Eastbrook on Feb. 21, 1998.

Selking averaged 31.0 points and 4.0 rebounds as the Bellmont boys (2-3) split a pair of games. First, the 6-0 guard scored 26 points with five rebounds, one assist and two steals as the Braves defeated Woodlan 58-50. He then produced 36 points with three rebounds, one assist and two steals in a 75-59 setback to New Haven. For the week, Selking sank 18-of-39 from the field, 12-of-25 from distance and 14-of-17 from the line.

Hall posted norms of 22.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists as Crispus Attucks (5-2) went 3-0 for the week. The 6-3 guard tallied 21 points, six rebounds and three assists in a 69-56 victory at Warren Central. He provided 17 points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal as the Tigers edged Jeffersonville 55-54. Hall completed his week with 30 points, five rebounds, three assists and one block in an 83-65 triumph over Evansville Bosse. In the three games, he hit 25-of-46 field goals, 4-of-12 3-pointers and 14-of-22 free throws.

Vance scored 28 points – including the game-winning basket with about 5 seconds remaining – to lift the Christian Academy boys to a victory in their only game of the week, a 63-61 decision over South Central (Elizabeth). The 5-11 guard added five rebounds, one assist and two steals as the Warriors improved to 5-1 for the season. Vance sank 9-of-17 field goals, 2-of-2 3-pointers and 8-of-10 free throws in the contest.

Curry posted two double-doubles in pacing the Ben Davis girls (4-6) to two victories. The 5-10 forward opened with 27 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block in a 66-59 victory at Crispus Attucks. She followed with 15 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block as the Giants outlasted Zionsville 50-44. In the two games, Curry was 13-of-22 from the field, 3-of-5 from distance and 13-of-20 from the line.

Wagoner averaged 16.0 points and 8.0 rebounds over two games while producing a double-double in one of them for the Class 4A No. 3 Center Grove girls (11-0). The 5-11 wing netted 15 points with 10 rebounds, one assist and one steal in a 50-19 triumph at Martinsville.
